Campus Life Orientation for New Students at Faculty of Tourism 2025 - Day One

`

Jimbaran - 14th of August 2025. The Faculty of Tourism at Udayana University held the first day of its Campus Life Orientation for New Students (PKKMB), "Ksatria Parayana 2025," at the Widya Sabha Building. The event's theme, "Revitalizing Ethics and the Role of Young Tourism Professionals in Building a Dignified Academic Culture," served as the foundation for new students to get to know their academic environment, the faculty's organizational structure, and the ethical values and academic culture they'll uphold throughout their studies.

The day began early at 4:30 AM WITA, with the committee gathering, followed by a communal prayer at Padmasana led by the Spiritual Committee. A briefing from the Committee Chair and the team's assignment to their respective tasks ensured a smooth start.

At 6:00 AM WITA, students arrived at the field in front of the rector's office for group assignments, attendance, and a check of their attire and belongings. At 7:20 AM WITA, Hindu students attended a prayer session while the others remained in formation. The groups then moved to the Widya Sabha Building at 7:45 AM WITA.

The indoor opening ceremony began at 8:00 AM WITA with an MC, a welcoming dance, a prayer, and the singing of "Indonesia Raya," "Padamu Negeri," and the Udayana Hymn. The Committee Chair delivered a report at 8:35 AM WITA, followed by a speech and the official opening from the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism. The faculty leadership, senate, study programs, and work units were then introduced. The event concluded with a symbolic tree handover from a new student representative to the Dean.

Next, students were given a presentation on general and financial affairs, covering administration, facilities, integrity, and complaint services. The academic, planning, and student affairs session followed, with discussions on semester credit systems, learning strategies, the Independent Campus Program (MBKM), campus ethics, and sanctions. After a documentation session and an ice-breaking activity, a representative from the Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force socialized prevention efforts.

Following a break for lunch and worship, a speaker from the Directorate General of Higher Education (PDDIKTI) and the Information Systems Development Unit (USDI) explained how to fill out the student database and study plan cards (KRS). At 2:20 PM WITA, new students were symbolically handed over from the Dean to the heads of their respective study programs (Tourism S1, Hospitality Management D4, and Tourism Travel Industry S1), followed by an introduction to the educational staff.

The event ended with a post-test and a debriefing on the assignments for the second day. The students also received merchandise. The committee then conducted a final evaluation and cleaned the venue, finishing at 6:30 PM WITA.

This first day of orientation ran smoothly and was well-organized, thanks to the excellent coordination between the committee, speakers, and full support from the faculty. It is hoped that the new students will leave with a clear understanding of the information, a sense of familiarity with their new environment, and a strong motivation to become tourism professionals of integrity, ethics, and achievement.
